Working together

Every business is different, and I don't sell fixed packages. But most engagements follow a recognisable shape — and founders usually arrive at one of three moments. Here's what each typically looks like in practice.

Ongoing fractional support

Retainer, typically 1-4 days/month

For businesses that need consistent senior input over time, with delivery — someone who knows the business, keeps the strategy connected to day-to-day decisions, and gets things done.

What's involved:

  • Strategic direction and priority-setting

  • Hands-on execution: content, SEO and GEO, campaigns

  • Keeps the marketing connected as the business grows

  • Scales up or down as needed

  • No long-term lock-in

United UK is a good example of what sustained fractional input looks like in practice — a repositioning, a new brand architecture, a website rebuilt around sector-specific audiences, and an ongoing content programme that keeps the messaging consistent as the business grows.

A tightly defined project

Typically 6-12 weeks

For businesses that know what they need built — a new brand, a website that generates enquiries, a content suite for a launch, or a repositioning ahead of a funding round.

What's involved:

  • Scoped and priced upfront

  • Delivered in agreed stages with regular check-ins

  • Strategy, brand, website, and content — sometimes all four

  • Everything done directly — no account managers, no handoffs

Melius Pharma needed both a brand and a website — but the brief that mattered was the strategic one: how to position a specialist pharma consultancy credibly in a sector where trust is everything.

Getting focused quickly

Typically 4–6 weeks

For businesses that are active but unclear — marketing is happening, but there's no real thread connecting it. Or advice ahead of making a significant change.

What's involved:

  • Review of what exists and what's working

  • Clear recommendations on what to fix and in what order

  • Prioritised plan, ready to act on

Rubikon Consulting came to me needing a brand identity — but before a mark was drawn, we worked through the positioning: what the business stood for, who it was really for, and how it wanted to be seen. The brand came out of that clarity, not the other way round.

Not sure which fits?

That's fine — most people aren't when they first get in touch. A short conversation is usually enough to work out what makes sense. There's no pitch, no proposal process, and no obligation.

What it costs

Project work is scoped and priced individually. Website builds start from £2,500. Brand projects and strategy engagements are typically similar in scope, depending on the project.

Ongoing support is charged on a day-rate basis. Most clients investing in fractional support spend significantly less per month than the cost of a single mid-level marketing hire — and get senior-level experience with hands-on execution rather than management overhead.

The right level of involvement depends entirely on what you actually need. We work that out before any commitment is made.

I bought Marc in to do a complete overhaul of my website and SEO, and now I'm definitely reaping the rewards. They say, "Buy cheap, buy twice."

Just use Marc from the get-go, and you will not regret it."
